In today’s hustle and bustle society, a lot of us cut back on sleep to save time. Who needs to sleep, right?

There are so many other things that you could be doing instead of sleeping!

I mean writing a new blog post, posting ads, cleaning up your house…the list goes on and on, right? In fact, the list never ends because there is always something to do.

People who say they can get by on three or four hours of sleep a  night, night after night, are probably not functioning their best at work or living a healthy lifestyle.

They may even be shortening their lives.

To see if you’re getting enough rest, answer these questions:

  • Do you have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, waking up on time, or feeling refreshed after sleeping?
  • Do you have at least one of the following problems?
    • Low energy
    • Attention, concentration, or memory problems
    • Poor work performance
    • Daytime sleepiness
    • Making errors at work or while driving
    • Frustration or worry about your sleep

Researchers found that people who regularly sleep less than six hours a night or more than nine hours a night do not live as long as those who get closer to eight hours of solid rest on most nights.

8 Ways To Get A Good Night’s Rest

  1. Avoid Stimulants
  2. Decrease Your Alcohol Intake
  3. Keep a Regular Schedule
  4. Get Physical
  5. The Golden Hour
  6. Stay Cool
  7. Don’t Overindulge
  8. Relax. Relate. Release.

Do you find it difficult to talk to your physician about your health concerns?

Many patients want to have a better relationship with their doctor but have no idea where to begin. The key to every good relationship is communication. So naturally, this is where we need to start. Lets open the lines of communication and allow for a clear dialogue between doctor and patient.

Recent research suggests that doctors and patients are not always on the same page. In one study, only 57 percent of hospitalized patients knew their diagnosis, but the doctors believed 77 percent understood their disease. Less than 20 percent of the patients knew their doctor’s name, but the doctors guessed that 67 percent did.

How Can You Make Sure Your Doctor Understands You?

Learn the essential items you must give your Physician at every visit and what you should get from your healthcare provider in return.

Do you feel your Doctor listens to you? Do you have a clear understanding of your diagnosis and treatment after your visit?

Please leave a comment and share your thoughts!

1) Stay Focused

If you start out with a plan, stick to that plan.

Stay focused on your core project and don’t let short term enticements distract you from concentrated development on your long-term plan.

If you are not starting with a long-term plan, get a plan.

Someone offers you involvement in a project that pays a fair amount of money. You may be tempted to do it to get the fast  cash. Don’t.

2) Stay True To Yourself

You have the vision. You have the idea. You know you want to reach your goal.

You want to share your idea with others. Unfortunately, this is the usual response: ” Hey, great idea! But you know what you really need to do is blah, blah, blah.”  If they were so smart, why didn’t they think up the idea themselves?

Most of our family and friends are just happy with mediocrity. They’re happy to get a paycheck. They’re happy to put their money in social security and get some money back when they’re sixty-five. They’re happy getting paid by the hour. That’s not what you ‘re about because you are an entrepreneur.

So, be persistent even when there are people constantly being negative. Believe in yourself and don’t let others confuse you.

3) Use Money Wisely

If you have start-up capital, please, hang on to it because every penny counts!

Seriously consider every single expenditure, whatever the size.

If you best friend or relative is working for you for pay and it isn’t really adding value to your project, let them go. Now.

4) Stay Active in The Community

Give. Freely. And lots.

Participate in the community.

Contribute everywhere possible.

Encourage discussion.

Get involved in any and all forums and movements.

5) Keep At It

Above all, keep moving forward.

Don’t get discouraged.

Don’t give up.

Develop the mindset that you have already achieved your success.

Be patient, be persistent, and be positive. Get rid of negatives in your life. Get rid of whiners.

Optimistic people focus on the opportunities, while pessimistic people focus on the limitations. if you focus on limitations, what’s going to come up in your life? Those limitations are going to always bring you down and you’re not going to move forward. When you focus on the problem, all that does is make the problem bigger.

Have fun and be creative. Enjoy what you’re doing and be positive. Be persistent through those bumps. Be thoughtful, have the right attitude about why you have your own business.

Life can be one of 2 formulas:

Live   In   Fear   Everyday

or

Live   In   Freedom   Everyday

If you’re living in fear everyday you’re focusing on the roadblocks. Roadblocks will keep you from ever seeing success and you will live in fear, not moving forward in your business. If you put into action the steps listed above, your going to be living in freedom. Where do you live? Its your CHOICE!

Expect Success,

All great people get great criticism. I was perusing through my favorite music videos on YouTube and noticed a trend of haters. On every artists’ video there were a crew of haters leaving comments about how the artist wasn’t doing this or that right.

It reminded me of a Yiddish proverb that says, A critic is like the girl who can’t dance so she says the band can’t play.”

The critic is convinced that the chief purpose of sunshine is to cast shadows. He doesn’t usually believe anything but still wants you to believe him. Like a cynic, he always knows the price of everything and the value of nothing. Instead of spending your time and energy criticizing, spend it creating. Successful people do not waste time and energy worrying about what others think about them. In fact, judging and comparing yourself to others is the greatest waste of your energy.

If you think you’re doing better than the average person, you are an average person! Too many people seem to know how to live everybody’s life but their own.

Remember there’s a season for everyone. When you’re hot you’re hot and you have to make the most of it. Master your craft and be prepared for your opportunity when it arrives. Success is simply a matter of doing what you do best and not worrying about what the other person is going to do. The truth is, if your head sticks up above the crowd, expect more criticism than applause. The only way to eliminate criticism is to do nothing and be nothing. If you are afraid of criticism, you won’t accomplish much.

Now go make it a great day, on purpose!

This is an excerpt from a great book, The Traveler’s Gift: Seven Decisions that Determine Personal Success. It is an absolute must-read and great addition to your entrepreneur mindset library! In it Andy Andrews discusses the seven decisions that determine personal success and the first one is entitled, The Buck Stops Here.

“The choice is up to you how you want your life to be. Sometimes we feel as though everything is out of our control but we have to remember it really is a matter of personal choice. Your future is what you decide it will be.

Our thinking creates a pathway to success or failure. By disclaiming responsibility for our present, we crush the prospect of an incredible future that might have been ours.

You are where you are because of your thinking. Your thinking dictates your decisions. Decisions are choices. Years ago, you began making the choices that led you to your present situation.

You chose the house in which you live and the cars you would drive, you chose how much the payments would be each month. By choosing to eat rib eye steaks or hot dogs, you chose your household expenses.

The words It’s not my fault! should never again come from your mouth.

Those words have been symbolically written on the gravestones of unsuccessful people ever since Eve took her first bit of the apple. Until a person takes responsibility for where he is, there is no basis for moving on. The bad news is the past was in your hands but the good news is that the future, my friend, is also in your hands.

The first decision for success: The buck stops here.

From this moment forward, I will accept responsibility for my past. I understand the beginning of wisdom is to accept the responsibility for my own problems and that by accepting responsibility for my past, I free myself to move into a bigger, brighter future of my own choosing.

Never again will I blame my parents, my spouse, my boss, or other employees for my present situation. Neither my education nor lack of one, my genetics, or the circumstantial ebb and flow of everyday life will affect my future in a negative way. If I allow myself to blame these uncontrollable forces for my lack of success, I will forever be caught in a web of the past. I will look forward. I will not let my history control my destiny.

The buck stops here. I accept responsibility for my past. I am responsible for my success.

Today I will begin the process of changing where I am – mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally, and financially – by changing the way I think. My mind will live in the solutions of the future. It will not dwell in the problems of the past. I will never seek comfort by associating with those who have decided to be comfortable.

When faced with an opportunity to make a decision, I will make one. I understand that God did not put in me the ability to always make right decisions. He did, however, put me in the ability to make a decision and then make it right.

My life will not be an apology. It will be a statement.

The buck stops here. I control my thoughts. I control my emotions. I am responsible for my success. The buck stops here.”

Wasn’t that powerful? The craziest part is that was just THE FIRST DECISION out of seven! This book is a must read but only if you are serious about making some true, lasting changes in your life.

Even the wealthiest people don’t feel that they have enough money. Most want more, and some use any means to get it. When we believe that money gives us our essential power, we lose sight of what is truly important. As humans we constantly want more! More of what you ask? More of everything and right now, dammit!

When we believe our power is in the material world, we never feel quite strong enough or confident enough or attractive enough to live fully and freely.

We always feel that something is lacking, that we should have more. This constant need to have more will leave you empty and unfulfilled.

Are you living life on your own terms or are you diligently working to impress others?

We are not created to please people, we were created to please God, to recognize the Highest Power in ourselves and make it manifest in our daily lives.

Susan L. Taylor wrote, “Love yourself as a beautiful and necessary light that was created by God. Remember that the Highest Power is alive within you. It is alive as you. You are human and divine. As is true of the universe, nothing about you is haphazard or accidental.”

I challenge you today to lift up your faith in yourself and in the miracle that is your being. Make a ritual of spending quiet time to focus inward so that you can experience the Highest Power and the source of wisdom and strength in you.

The School of Hard Knocks | I’ma die tryin’

Live free or die trying….what does that really mean?  Simply put it means to never give up. When you give up is when they are putting you six feet under.

Here’s an excerpt from What Makes the Great, Great by Dennis Kimbro that sums it up quite nicely…

“When the Creator wants to educate a man or woman, He does not send his star pupil to the academy of social graces, but rather, He enrolls the candidate in the school of hard knocks. We are not aware of the power within us until we face great adversity. The world admires the man or woman who never flinches from unexpected difficulties, who calmly, patiently, and courageously grapples with his or her fate; who dies, if need be, at his or her post. Clear grit always commands respect.”

“Don’t let me ever hear you use the word ‘impossible.’ If I’ve learned anything over the course of my career, there’s no such thing as impossible. Overnight the impossible may not be possible. But over time, the impossible certainly becomes possible.” ~Earl Graves

“Times of general calamity and confusion have ever been productive of the greatest minds. The purest ore is produced from the hottest surface, and the brightest thunderbolt is the one elicited from the darkest storm.” ~Charles Caleb Colton

Charles Kettering said, “No one would have crossed the ocean if he could have gotten off the ship in the storm.”

Harvey MacKay said, “Be like a postage stamp. Stick to it until you get there.”

Mary Kay Ash said, “When you reach an obstacle, turn it into an opportunity. You have the choice. You can overcome and be a winner, or you can allow it to overcome you. The choice is yours and yours alone. Refuse to throw in the towel. Go that extra mile that failures refuse to travel. It is far better to be exhausted from success than to be rested from failure.”

Lets face it beautiful people, problems are the price of progress. The obstacles in life are intended to make us better, not bitter. Its been said that you can’t bring about change without confrontation. The biggest successes are the people who solve the biggest problems. Go solve some problems today and continue to take daily actions to live your life, passionately on purpose! 8-)

Dare to Live Your Life on Purpose

Be bold in your vision and dare to do something that is right for you. Dare to live your passion. Many ask, “How do I know what my passion is?” The answer is relatively simple, what would you do even if you weren’t getting paid for it? What is it that gets you fired up every time you start talking about it? This is your passion.

“You can do anything you think you can.

It’s all in the way you view it.

It’s all in the start you make, young man.

You must feel that you’re going to do it.”

Take action toward living your dreams and living your life on purpose!

Losing weight doesn’t always have to be difficult. Just by making simple changes to your diet you can achieve extraordinary results. One of these changes needs to be removing or at least start with decreasing the amount of processed foods you intake.

Processed foods tend to be lower in fiber and higher in calories than other healthier options. Move toward fresh vegetables that are rich in fiber, frozen items with no added sugar, and higher quality prepared foods to provide nourishment to your body.

Remember, fiber is vital to your heart and colon health. It helps to prevent colon cancer and reduces cholesterol. Fiber also increases satiety after meals by helping you feel full longer. You can get fiber from fruits, leafy greens and whole grain products.
